Doctor Who is removing a reference to terrorism in a small part of its dialogue for this weekend's episode, following the Manchester terror attack.

'The Pyramid at the End of the World' sees the Doctor investigate a 5,000-year-old pyramid which has inexplicably appeared in the middle of a war zone between the Chinese, Russian, and American armies.

RadioTimes reports that the uncut version sees terrorism very briefly mentioned during a conversation about wider threats to humanity.

The bombing at Ariana Grande's concert saw 22 people lose their lives and around 60 further people injured, and after some consideration, the BBC has taken the decision to alter the scene in question.

"Following the tragic events in Manchester, we have made a small edit to this week's episode of Doctor Who," a statement said.

Greater Manchester Police chief constable Ian Hopkins explained the attack was carried out by a lone man who died at the scene, and police have now identified the suspected bomber as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, believed to have been born in Manchester and to have been of Libyan descent.

The terror threat level was raised to "critical" by Prime Minister Theresa May in the aftermath of the bombing, while Ariana has suspended her 'Dangerous Woman' world tour.

The incident also resulted in a number of scheduling changes, including the premiere of Sean Bean and Anna Friel's new BBC One drama Broken being pushed back by one week.

This weekend's Doctor Who airs Saturday, May 27 at 7.20pm on BBC One.
