Doctor Who first look photos show Jonathan Groff in "mysterious" new role
Doctor Who spoilers follow.
Doctor Who has revealed all-new first look images showing Jonathan Groff in his upcoming role.
The snaps show the former Glee and Mindhunter star posing alongside new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa and his companion, Coronation Street's Millie Gibson. The trio are looking very dapper in Victorian dress as they pose together on an elaborate staircase, and the new images also give us a look at a new outfit for The Doctor, complete with velvet tails no less!
Exactly who Groff will be playing is still being kept under wraps for now, with the BBC only letting slip so far that he'll be playing a "mysterious key role" in the series. Intriguing!

As fans will already know, Doctor Who is set to return to our screens this November to celebrate the iconic series' 60th anniversary. Three very special episodes will air featuring Doctor Who veteran David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, while Gatwa’s first episode as number Fifteen will then air at the end of the year.
Groff's involvement with the show was officially announced earlier this month – and he certainly seemed pretty excited to be joining the cast.

Davies added: "This is an incredible coup, and a great honour, to get such a huge star striding on to our set. So strap on your space boots, this is going to be a blast!"

Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on Britbox in the UK.
