Peter Capaldi's final episodes as the Doctor are almost upon us, and Saturday night's Doctor Who finale is already shaping up to be one heck of a farewell to Twelve.

As last week's finale opener 'World Enough and Time' left us with two Masters finally sharing the screen and the promise of a spectacular series finale to come, the Mondasian Cybermen are now on the rise and it's time for the Time Lord's final battle in 'The Doctor Falls'.

New first-look pictures of the finale see Michelle Gomez's Missy and John Simm's Master gleefully teaming up and turning on the Doctor, backed up by the Cybermen, as the Doctor looks to be in more trouble than ever.

It's also an episode that Steven Moffat has described as a "bloodbath".

"Finales are better at 'last falls', and moments of reflection, and anguish, and bloodbaths – which it certainly bloody is," he said recently, so it may be wise to enjoy these pictures of Capaldi's Doctor looking anguished, but still in one piece, while we can.

Pearl Mackie has also revealed that the series 10 finale will deliver "quite a lot of endings", describing it as "emotional" even as she managed to stay coy on her character Bill's future on the show, following her conversion into a Cyberman in last week's episode.

'The Doctor Falls' airs at 6.30pm on Saturday on BBC One, though Moffat said they'd be working straight to the wire to get it finished as the episode is still being tweaked.
