Doctor Who Christmas Special Will Be A ‘Sex Storm’, Says Show Boss

Cover the children’s eyes this Christmas as the latest Doctor Who festive special may not be entirely suitable for its 5.15pm time slot on Christmas Day.

Show boss Steven Moffat has revealed the special episode, titled The Husbands of River Song, will be something of a “sex storm” between Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord and Alex Kingston’s recurring character.

It will be the first time River shares the screen with the 12th Time Lord.

“I had sort of thought we were done with River. But Russell [T. Davies, former executive producer] and I had been emailing about River.

“He was always saying, ‘You can’t not bring her back because she’s got to be together with Capaldi – it will be a sex storm!’ “

Alex herself added, “There have been moments on set where we’ve started to call it 'Doctor Blue’. Say no more.”

OH MY GOD. Won’t someone please think of the children?!

If you’re wondering if the episode will be suitable to watch with all the family after you Christmas dinner, don’t worry - Moffat also promises it will be full of festive cheer.

He jokes, “It’s the most Christmassy Doctor Who ever!”

“Obviously we hammer Christmas quite hard in the opening few minutes and then we just get on with it.

“But it is Christmassy in the sense that it’s a sort of funny, fast, madcap chase episode with the Doctor and a big robot… and River,” he added to the Telegraph.

The Husbands of River Song also stars comedians Greg Davies and Matt Lucas.

Doctor Who airs Christmas Day at 5.15pm on BBC One
