Matt Lucas is back – joining Peter Capaldi on the ‘Doctor Who’ set.

Arriving in Cardiff to film scenes for the upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ series 10, the 42-year-old comedian looked delighted to be back… and we even spotted him sharing a laugh with Peter Capaldi on set.

“I’m chuffed to bits that Nardole is returning to the TARDIS for some more adventures,” he said in a statement. “I loved acting with Peter and I’m excited to work with Pearl.”

‘Doctor Who’ Series 10 is currently filming on location at Cardiff University, where we found Matt Lucas and Peter Capaldi filming a fairly energetic scene in front of one of the University buildings.

And as always, the Doctor was busy dashing about here, there and everywhere.

Matt Lucas is returning to the role of Nardole – River Song’s hilarious helper from the episode, ‘The Husbands of River Song’. Appearing on set wearing his distinctive brown duffel coat, it’s unclear how he’s back in one piece.

After all, he was merely a head attached to a cyborg body the last time we saw him.

Does this mean that Nardole has been given his body back? Has the Doctor resorted to some good old-fashioned time travel to catch up with him before the events of the 2015 Christmas Special?

Either way, it’s great to see Nardole back in one piece.

Of course, Peter Capaldi returned in his new, black overcoat and grey hoodie… and it has to be said - the Doctor is looking rather dapper.

His windswept, greying hair and rather dashing attire made Peter Capaldi instantly recognisable… and when he wasn’t dashing around saving the day, the 58-year-old ‘Doctor Who’ star took some time out to greet the fans.

But it wasn’t just Matt and Peter getting in on the action…

Newcomer Pearl Mackie was also spotted on set, filming some pretty engaging scenes as her character, Bill arrived at the university. But clearly something is wrong… and as she bolted off towards the building, onlookers were left to speculate on what she’d seen.

“It looks as though Bill might be a student at the University,” said one fan. “Perhaps there’s an alien presence or something… and the Doctor swoops in to save the day?”

The university buildings are standing in for the fictional ‘St Luke’s University, Bristol’.

Does this mean Bill is a student there?

At the moment, the exact nature of her scenes is unclear… and Pearl was featured filming some far more sedate scenes alongside a chum as they relaxed on a nearby bench. Quite how these scenes fit together remains to be seen.

‘Doctor Who’ returns to BBC One in 2017.
