“The store was very busy at the time. The counter blocked my view but plenty of other people saw it happen.
“An ambulance came at around 2.30pm. Judging by the state of him, I think the man will have been taken to hospital.”
Staffordshire Police said it was investigating the incident and planning to interview the man who was allegedly bitten.
A spokesman said: “An incident at Pets At Home at Festival Heights was reported to us at 3.13pm yesterday.
“A man and puppy had reportedly been attacked by another dog in the store but we are yet to speak to the injured party so we can not release any further details at this time.
“The incident has been passed over to our neighbourhood police team to investigate.”
