Dog ‘bites man and puppy’ inside Pets At Home superstore in ‘savage’ attack

A dog attacked a man and a puppy inside a pet shop, it has been reported.

Police are investigating the incident at a Pets At Home superstore at Festival Park in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday.

The Stoke Sentinel reported that a customer and a puppy were bitten by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier inside the pet shop.

It is understood the man was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after paramedics were sent to the shop.

The extent of the injuries to the man and the puppy are unknown.

A witness told the Stoke Sentinel: “A man and puppy were savaged by a Staffie in Pets At Home. I’m not sure if he was the puppy’s owner.

“The store was very busy at the time. The counter blocked my view but plenty of other people saw it happen.

“An ambulance came at around 2.30pm. Judging by the state of him, I think the man will have been taken to hospital.”

Staffordshire Police said it was investigating the incident and planning to interview the man who was allegedly bitten.

A spokesman said: “An incident at Pets At Home at Festival Heights was reported to us at 3.13pm yesterday.

“A man and puppy had reportedly been attacked by another dog in the store but we are yet to speak to the injured party so we can not release any further details at this time.

“The incident has been passed over to our neighbourhood police team to investigate.”
