Dolly Parton Musical Planned for 2026 Broadway Bow

Dolly Parton will bring a musical about her life and career to Broadway in 2026.

The musical, entitled Hello, I’m Dolly, will feature a score of Parton’s well-known songs as well as new songs she has written for the musical and a book by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter, who wrote Parton’s Christmas on the Square film. Additional creative team members and cast will be announced at a later date. Parton will not be appearing in the show.

The show is produced by Parton, Adam Speers for ATG Productions and Danny Nozell for CTK Enterprises. Parton announced the news from the stage of the CMA Fest in Nashville Thursday.

“Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well,” Parton said in the press release. “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!”

Parton has been teasing details of the musical for several years, particularly following the release of the 2015 film Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, which covered the early years of Parton’s life. There’s also a musical featuring many of Parton’s songs, called Here You Come Again, that’s currently touring the UK after runs in the U.S. Parton is not involved in that production.

Parton has previously worked in the theater world, having written the Tony-nominated score to the musical adaptation of 9 to 5: The Musical, which ran on Broadway in 2009. A revamped West End version of the musical opened in 2019, with Speers as an executive producer, followed by a production in Australia.
