Don Omar Says He Is 'Cancer Free' and 'Surgery Was a Success' One Day After Revealing Diagnosis

The "Dile" singer revealed he had cancer to fans on Instagram on Monday, June 17

Don Omar is updating fans on his health.

On Tuesday, June 18, the Puerto Rican rapper shared that he was cancer-free after revealing his diagnosis the day prior.

"I woke up today cancer-free and grateful," Don Omar, 46, wrote on Instagram in Spanish, alongside a photo of himself throwing up a peace sign.

"Thank you for your good wishes, prayers and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success and now to recover," the "Dile" singer added.

On Monday, June 17, Don Omar (whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera) revealed he was diagnosed with cancer on Instagram.

“Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer,” Don Omar captioned an image featuring his hospital wristband from an Orlando medical center. “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #f---cancer.”

The news of his diagnosis came hours after he posted an Instagram Reel featuring dancers auditioning for the second leg of his Back to Reggaetón Tour.

“The most special thing about today’s auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me,” Don Omar wrote on Saturday, June 15. “Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.”

The second leg of his Back to Reggaeton tour will launch on Wednesday, Aug. 7 in Oakland, Calif. The tour kicked off in 2023 and marked his comeback with the release of his album Forever King. The first leg ran from Thursday, March 7 to Sunday, April 21 before he extended by 18 dates.

In December, Don Omar and Daddy Yankee ended their longtime feud by sharing lengthy statements on social media.

“Today we close the book that kept the best chapters of our controversial rivalry,” the "Guaya Guaya" artist wrote on Instagram of Yankee. “Thank you for your words and for listening to mine that came from the heart as well. I wish you the best for you and your family. Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline but even more thank you for what you did for our music.”

Don Omar continued: “Thank you for collaborating and for competing because I did it with a titan. I keep the good memories, the laughs, the dreams together and the desire for a last round with such a great adversary. We will meet again soon because I owe you a hug and thank you in person. In the meantime, long live King Daddy.”
