'Don't make up stories' - Bruno Guimaraes' agent hits out at Newcastle United transfer speculation

Bruno Guimaraes' agent has taken to social media to explain his why he is currently in France after speculation surrounding Paris Saint-Germain making a move for the Newcastle United favourite.

Alexis Malavolta, who is responsible for Guimaraes' dealings, is currently in the French capital for the second time in a matter of weeks, sparking fresh concern over the nature of his visits across the channel. Eagle-eyed Newcastle fans also spotted the Brazilian representative at the Parc des Princes as PSG defeated Rennes to book their place in the French Cup final earlier this month.

Guimaraes' future at Newcastle has been the subject of significant speculation in recent weeks but Malavolta has moved to calm any fear on Tyneside by explaining his most recent Paris jaunt is not business related.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Malavolta wrote: "Good morning. I would like to point out that I am in Paris for private and family reasons and not for work. please respect and don't make up stories. Bruno is very happy in Newcastle. THANKS!"

Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move to PSG, having previously impressed against the European giants both while at Lyon and for Newcastle in the Champions League. Manchester City are another side who have kept their eye on the Magpies favourite in recent months.

Newcastle's No 39 signed a new deal earlier this season but continues to be linked with a St James' Park exit as the club's European hopes hang by a thread going into the final stretch of the campaign. Quizzed over his future after netting the winner at Fulham last weekend, Guimaraes said: "I hope to stay much longer. I don't know what the future brings let's see, but I hope to play much more for Newcastle United."

That hope has been echoed by Eddie Howe and all Newcastle supporters as they keep their fingers crossed that the next chapter of the club's story features the midfielder in the side. Guimaraes' recently-agreed deal contains a reported £100m release clause.
