Yahoo News Dorset duo Mitchell and King reach Six Nations Cup final with England
DORSET duo Scott Mitchell and Ricky King were part of a five-man team who finished as runners-up at the Six Nations Cup of Darts.
It was the first time the county had two representatives for the event, which was held in Galway.
Former BDO world champion Mitchell captained the side, which also included Paul Milford, Tom Sykes and Cam Crabtree.
England enjoyed a perfect group stage of two wins from two, dispatching Netherlands 13-5 and Scotland 13-9, King recording six wins along the way.
A 13-10 win over hosts Republic of Ireland followed in the semi-finals, Mitchell claiming two wins, before Swanage ace King sealed the victory by defeating Dean Finn.
But there would be no trophy for England to lift, suffering a surprise 13-9 loss to Wales in the final.
Their team was made up of Llew Bevan, Sean Fisher, Sam Cankett, Mark Challenger and Terry Nash.
Mitchell won two of his four matches in the final, while King added one point to his team’s tally.
It marked a first men’s title in this event for Wales in 16 years, England failing to recover from falling 6-1 behind.
England’s women were also beaten in the final, losing 5-3 to Wales.
