Douglas is Cancelled is the latest comedy-drama from ITV. The show, split into four episodes, stars Hugh Bonneville as veteran newsreader Douglas Bellowes a face famously recognised for reporting on world events over the past three decades.

However, after making an unfortunate jest at a wedding, national treasure Douglas goes viral, spiralling into a cancellation controversy. Supporting Hugh, familiar from his work in Downton Abbey, are multiple Doctor Who alumni - Marvel Cinematic Universes Nebula-actor Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston and Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, who won hearts with his portrayal of Nate Shelley.

The star-studded ensemble also includes Wolf Hall's Simon Russell Beale and The Crown's Ben Miles. Madeleine Power, popular from her stint in The Last Kingdom, plays Claudia Bellowes.

In regard to joining the cast of Douglas Is Cancelled, Hugh shared, "As always, the script. It constantly surprised me with its changes of direction and tone."

Adding, "It made me roar with laughter but, as with all good satire, the laughter gradually turned to ice as the questions raised by the comedy became more stark... harsher. Some of the twists and turns are toe-curlingly funny, but by the end, the lights have gone out, the fun has evaporated and we're into dark territory.", reports the Mirror.

"To read the whole thing in one sitting was as riveting as it was uncomfortable. Hopefully, the audience will have a similar rollercoaster experience. As an actor, I also found the dynamic between the central quartet intoxicating. It's not often you recognise a terrific drama straight off the page but this was certainly one for me."
