Drake releases Pusha T and Kanye West diss track 'Duppy Freestyle'

Less than 24 hours after Pusha T released the Kanye West-produced album Daytona and Drake has responded to an alleged diss with a new freestyle track.

Pusha T and Drake have had a fraught relationship for many years, with the rapper - real name Terrence LeVarr Thornton - taking a direct shot at Drake on the newly released track “Infrared”.

The 41-year-old rapper compares the way Drake became popular to the way Donald Trump became president, pointing out how both reportedly used external measures: Drake uses a ghostwriter named Quentin Miller while Trump has alleged ties to Russia.

Pusha raps: “The lyric pennin' equal the Trumps winnin’ / The bigger question is how the Russians did it / It was written like Nas but it came from Quentin”.

Drake has since responded to the diss, releasing a three-minute track named “Duppy Freestyle”, rapping: “I had a microphone of yours but then the signature faded / I think that pretty much resembles what has been happening lately.”

The Canadian also takes aim at Kanye, producer of “Infrared”, making references to two songs from Kanye’s album The Life of Pablo, “Father Stretch My Hands” and “30 Hours.”

“What do you really think of the n***a that’s making your beats? / I’ve done things for him I thought he never would need / Father had to stretch his hands out and get it from me / I pop style for 30 hours, then let him repeat,” he raps.

Drake is currently working on his next album, which he revealed to be titled Scorpion earlier this year. Meanwhile, the album cover for Daytona has proven controversial - it pictures Whitney Houston’s bathroom.

Kanye is currently gearing up to release another four albums over the coming weeks, including a solo project, a joint album with Kid Kudi, and producing records for Nas and Teyana Taylor.
