Dramatic footage shows armed police approach building with weapons raised and holding shields after disturbing report

Armed police swooped on a street in Llandudno after receiving reports of a man with a gun in a window. At around midday on Tuesday, six armed officers were spotted moving towards a property in the Deganwy Avenue area.

North Wales Police confirmed they were called to the scene and an air rifle, which was "legally held" was voluntarily handed over. There was "no danger to the public", the force said. Footage shows one armed officer, with a shield in front, cautiously approaching what appears to be a fenced off area of a property. Another officer is seen behind him with a gun trained on the property, before another two are seen behind them as they approach.

An officer with a dog is also seen coming onto the property, while at the other end of the street, another policeman is seen standing keeping watch. The armed officers are then seen coming back towards the street, reports North Wales Live.

A person who wished to remain anonymous said: "There were around six armed officers. It was strange because everything seemed normal, with pedestrians walking by and then there were these armed officers approaching a property. There were also police dogs there." A North Wales Police spokesperson said last night (April 17): "We received a call at 10.52am yesterday (Tuesday), reporting what was believed to be a male in possession of a firearm in the window of a property on Deganwy Avenue, Llandudno. Armed Alliance officers attended alongside the local policing team to ensure the safety of the community, and a legally held air rifle was voluntarily handed over.
