Drinks and snacks from the noughties that we miss

Ah, the noughties, a time when TikTok was the sound made by a clock and you found local tradesmen in the phonebook rather than on Facebook.

A lot has changed over the last 20 years - for the most part dial-up internet has been replaced with fiber optic broadband (sorry Fermanagh), we carry around a computer in our pockets 24/7 and Turkey Twizzlers are no longer a mainstay of the school canteen.

However, if you go to the shops, a lot of what we loved as kids back then is sadly no longer available.

Some items have rebranded - Taz Bars are now Caramel Freddos, but others have been confined to our memories for the foreseeable.

Our younger readers may not remember some of the classics on this list, but if you are old enough to remember the release of Rugrats in Paris, we hope this list will inspire you to campaign tirelessly for their return!

Virgin Cola

Launched in 1994, Virgin Cola was initially exclusive to Virgin Atlantic flights, Virgin trains, Virgin Cinemas and Virgin Megastores.

In 1996, the bottle was redesigned taking inspiration from the figure of Baywatch's Pamela Anderson.

At one point Virgin Cola outsold Coke in the UK but a bitter rivalry with the Coca Cola brand eventually led to it's decline before it was discontinued in 2014.

Cartoon ready meals

At one point everyone from Scooby-Doo to Basil Brush had their own brand of ready meals aimed at children.

We have fond memories of a Scooby-Doo pasta ready-meal but the only evidence of their existence that we could find was a short article in a marketing magazine from their launch in December 2003.

Robinsons for Milk

Back in 2004, Robinsons entered the milkshake market in an attempt to take on rivals Crusha.

Whilst short-lived, we still get cravings for their Peach and Banana flavour to this day!

Heinz Green Ketchup

I would love to meet the executive at Heinz who thought introducing coloured versions of Heinz ketchup was a great idea.

This neon green version of the stable condiment certainly raised eyebrows (and turned stomachs)

Wonka Bars

Nestlé introduced Wonka branded products on a number of occasions in the UK and Ireland.

Some of our favourites hit the market in the run-up to the release of Johnny Depp's Charlie and The Chocolate Factory in 2005 which included sweets that were essentially chocolate-covered jelly tots! Rowntree should take note as these were AMAZING!

Extra Thin Ice

These minty sheets melted on your tongue and left your breath minty fresh.

They may have burnt the mouth clean off you, but you always had a packet on hand in case you got a kiss at the youth club disco.

Monster Munch Tongue Painters

Pickled Onion flavoured crisps that turned your tongue blue - what's not to love?

Initially launched for Halloween in 2001, they were brought back the following year as Mystery Tongue Painters which either turned your tongue blue or green.

The crisps returned in 2004 and 2005 but sadly haven't been seen since.

Doritos 3D's

Texas Paprika Doritos 3D's were next level! These air-filled pockets of crispiness were quite popular but clearly not so popular that they were discontinued.

Hope is not lost though as they were reintroduced in the US during 2020 so fingers crossed we get them back on our shelves soon!
