Driver Fusion review

Driver Fusion automates one of the most tedious and time-consuming tasks PC owners have to deal with -- device driver management. The software provides a one-click solution that will back up your drivers, check for devices with missing drivers, and update any drivers that are out of date.

Pros

Health check: Doing a health check with Driver Fusion means creating a list of drivers to back up, scanning for hardware that has no associated drivers, and attempting to update drivers that are out of date. When we did a health check on our system, the software determined that we had an estimated 300MB of drivers to back up and also that we had to update an outdated driver; the whole process took less than seven minutes.

Desktop layout backup: If you have an elaborate desktop icon arrangement, you will certainly appreciate the ability to back up your desktop. The backup will include the icon layout as well as the screen resolution.

System report: Since it lists every single device/driver your system has during the backup stage, the health check function can also double as a way to quickly get a system driver report.

Cons

Stunted functionality: Unless you purchase a license, the app's functionality is minimal; you can't even complete a health check. Licensing options include annual subscriptions starting at $17 as well as lifetime purchases.

Bottom Line

If you absolutely hate messing with drivers and devices that are not being recognized, give Driver Fusion a shot. The automatic health check will ensure that your PC is running smoothly and, if you take the time to back up your driver setup, you can be up and running within minutes, should you ever have to wipe your hard drive and reinstall Windows. Just remember that to enjoy this app, you have to pay for its best features.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Driver Fusion 2.6.
