A driver has been fined and given points on their licence after "narrowly" avoiding crashing into a mum and child in Yeovil. The driver failed to spot the pair walking on a zebra crossing in the town until "the last minute", Avon and Somerset Police said.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, ASPolice Roads Policing (RPU) said the driver pleaded guilty to driving without due care and received six points on their licence. The post added that they were also asked to pay £520 in fines and costs.
