A man has been banned from multiple shops in Somerset after admitting to 10 shoplifting offences. Jason White, of Bryant Avenue in Westfield, is prohibited from entering Co-op stores in Westfield and Radstock, as well as The One Stop Shop in Midsomer Norton, for a period of two years.

White, 48, carried out 10 thefts between February 2023 and April this year. Two were committed in Westfield and Radstock between February and March last year.

Either thefts were carried out between March 13 and April 26, 2024 in Midsomer Norton. Appearing at Bath Magistrates Court on Monday, April 29, White was given a criminal behaviour order with a number of conditions, including banning him from certain stores.

  • Not to enter Co-op stores in Westfield and Radstock

  • Not to enter The One Stop Shop in Midsomer Norton

  • Not to enter or remain on any business premises where he has been served a written ban by them

  • On entering any store, must use a receptacle – for example a trolley or basket – to carry goods until the point of purchase

PC Mark Graham, of the Radstock Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Shoplifting is a serious offence and we are pleased the courts have taken action to help prevent these stores from being targeted again by Jason White.

“Should he breach the criminal behaviour order, he could face further prosecution.”
