Drone footage of Mold chemical plant blaze captures scale of fire service response


This dramatic drone footage shows firefighters tackling flames at a Flintshire chemical plant. The blaze broke out in the Synthite Ltd factory on Denbigh Road, Mold at about 2pm yesterday.

Reader Josh Asbo Taylor sent in these clips of crews trying to extinguish the inferno. The cause of the incident remains unclear but there were crews from Mold, Deeside, Wrexham and Llandudno at the scene this morning.

A foam unit from South Wales was also drafted in to help. One person was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for treatment and the Heath and Safety Executive says it is "making enquiries".

The footage shows firefighters directing a substance onto the flames across the sprawling site. The exact time that the footage was taken is unclear but flames are clearly visible against the night sky. A stretch of the A541 has been closed for about 24 hours since the incident started at about 2pm yesterday.

Today the Health & Safety Executive released a statement to say it is looking into the workplace incident. A HSE spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and making enquiries.”
