'I dropped five stone in six months - this is what I eat to keep it off'

A woman who managed to shed an extraordinary five stone within a span of only six months has candidly disclosed her weight loss strategy. The fitness coach and mother, known on TikTok as Teags, uploads her tips and tricks onto TikTok to help and inspire others.

Teags openly talks about how she turned her life around after confessing she'd 'completely given up' prior to embarking on her impressive fitness journey. Teags weighed in at 16 stone and four pounds a year after giving birth in 2022, with her waist measuring 38 inches.

Remarkably, by the following year, she slimmed down to 11 stone and five pounds, achieving a waist size of 28 inches. She now maintains a stable and "happy" weight of around 11 stone and four pounds.

At 5ft 9in tall, Teags emphasizes that weight loss journeys are personal and unique. She says there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.

However, she attributes her own success to creating a calorie deficit. This involves consuming fewer calories than what's expended, prompting the body to utilise its stored energy sources.

"There are a lot of calorie deficit calculators out there... they will put you in some form of calorie deficit that is lower than your maintenance calories," she explained. "But it all depends on how big a deficit you want to be in and how quickly you want to lose the weight and be able to maintain that. Personally for me, the one I stuck to was the James Smith calorie calculator."

Teags outlined the steps she took to shed the pounds:

  1. Stuck to my calories

  2. Didn't restrict anything

  3. 8k-10k steps a day

  4. Took lots of pictures and videos to keep motivated

  5. Made sure to hit my protein goals

  6. Measured not just by scales but trying on clothes and measurements too

  7. Did 1-3 workouts a week (however I did that prior to calorie deficit).

In a recent video, Teags shared her typical daily diet - two years after embarking on her weight loss journey. She remarked: "I can't believe how quickly the time has gone!

"I've been maintaining my weight since January 2023 and because I took my journey slow and consistent I've learned how to keep the weight off."

Detailing her daily meals, she said she began with a coffee for breakfast, followed by tuna and avocado on toast. For a snack, she indulged in a mini chocolate roll. For dinner, she had crispy chicken strips with rice and broccoli.

For dessert, she enjoyed a bowl of chocolate ice cream. She also made sure to hit 10,000 steps by the end of the day.

In another video, she mentioned she "didn't have time for breakfast", but for lunch, she had a sweet chilli chicken wrap, a Babybel and a blueberry fibre bar. For a snack, she had some kiwi slices, a donut and a coffee from Costa.

For her evening meal, she prepared a homemade chicken burger and chips. Following this, she consumed a pot of protein yoghurt. To conclude the day, she accomplished 25,000 steps.
