Two hedgehogs were locked up after becoming ‘almost motionless’ due to an Advocaat bender.

The prickly pair were found slumped next to a bottle of booze in a park in Germany on Sunday morning.

Police passed the drunk hedgehogs to Thuringia Zoo, in Erfurt, to sleep off their hangovers.

“The communication with the drunkards was extremely difficult, because both had only very vague memories of the happenings, their environment and their earthly existence,” said police.

Officers attended the scene after the animals were spotted next to the bottle of booze.

An employee at the zoo later updated officers, saying that one of the hedgehogs was up and about, though waiting for his drinking companion to sober up.

The two hedgehogs are expected to make a full recovery and are set to be released back into the wild.

Police reminded the public to dispose of rubbish properly.
