Back to Broadway, baby!

Dylan Mulvaney made a name for herself documenting her transition on TikTok, accumulating a whopping 10.6 million followers on the video-sharing social network. But before she became a TikTok star, Mulvaney had already been working on musical theater productions – which were halted by the 2020-2021 lockdown.

Now, it seems like Mulvaney might be making her big comeback to Broadway. According to Page Six, Mulvaney was invited to audition for the upcoming Broadway revival of Cabaret, which is currently set to feature actor Eddie Redmayne in the lead male role.

The report reads, “We’re told that while the cast for the Spring opening at the August Wilson Theater is already in place, producers have auditioned Mulvaney to take over the female lead British cabaret performer Sally Bowles if the show has a long run in New York.”

For context, Sally Bowles is the main character of Cabaret. This character has been previously played by high-profile actresses such as Jill Haworth, Judi Dench, Liza Minelli, Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, Sienna Miller, and Maude Apatow, to name a few.

Prior to becoming a social media influencer and TikTok superstar, Mulvaney was best known for starring in the musical The Book of Mormon. Her other theater credits include Legally Blonde, Spring Awakening, Bye Bye Birdie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Play.

We hope that Mulvaney lands this role in Cabaret and we get to see this young trans trailblazer making her big return to Broadway!
