It seems the original Adam Carrington is no fan of the Dynasty reboot, going so far as calling The CW remake "utter shit".

Gordon Thomson eviscerated the much-anticipated new version of the classic '80s soap opera, and said that the late original executive producer Aaron Spelling would not have approved.

"I have had a look at the new Dynasty and I am appalled," he told The Daily Beast. "What the f**k is the CW doing? It's utter shit.

"The acting is dreadful, truly dreadful. The writing is appalling. I don't know what possessed the Shapiros to bother."

He continued: "Why call it Dynasty? It's nothing to do with Dynasty at all. It's insulting. If the afterlife exists - it doesn't, but if it did - Aaron would be having major fits in his grave.

"And the audience the CW is aiming for is going to think it's shit because it is such shit that a cretinous 6-year-old would not be interested. It's abominable."

Ouch. Ouch indeed.

The original series charted the rivalry between the wealthy Carringtons and Colbys, and the remake has been made possible by Gossip Girl and The OC's Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz.

The new version, which will air on Netflix in the UK, will star The Vampire Diaries' Nathalie Kelley and Melrose Place's Grant Show.

In the same interview, Thomson also publicly came out as gay, and explained how playing the homophobic Adam impacted upon his own sexual identity.

"It's not something I've ever announced," the actor explained. "I'm assuming that people know, and now that I'm my age that's fine.

"I don't go out of my way because it's my generation, I think. I'm probably as homophobic as any gay man alive because of my background."

Dynasty begins on The CW on October 11, and airs on Netflix in the UK within 24 hours.
