Eamonn Holmes fought for months to save his marriage and is 'livid' over his split, according to reports. BirminghamLive reported yesterday how Eamonn and Ruth Langsford, who previously shared a This Morning couch, are set to divorce.

However, reports this morning claim he blames her for what he calls a public confrontation that ended their 14-year marriage - something which reportedly 'orchestrated' by Ruth. Elsewhere, reports suggest that the pair actually separated over a year ago.

Nevertheless, Eamonn sought to keep the information private while they tried to mend their relationship. Close friends allege that Eamonn has been battling internal difficulties and did not wish the split to go public.

Apparently, the joint statement was orchestrated by Ruth, 64, with reports suggesting Eamonn opted not to participate. "Ruth can do what she wants but keep me out of it," is what Eamonn is believed to have told his mates.

It is reported that Eamonn is furious over the break up after spending months attempting to rescue their union. He maintains that Ruth 'plotted' the break up and was 'adamant' about ending things, reports the Mirror.

As per the Daily Mail, one insider close to the Irish presenter stated that Eamonn would become very upset when asked about the state of his marriage.

"His language became really quite rude. He was struggling to accept it."

Another source added: "Eamonn's preferred way was not to tell anyone. Deep down he knew it couldn't carry on but he was kind of sticking his head in the sand. He is very upset indeed."

With the news now out in the open, Eamonn is bracing himself to address the matter publicly for the first time as he makes a return to GB News on Monday morning.

The candid Eamonn is expected to touch upon his personal circumstances, understanding that his dedicated viewers are eager for clarity straight from the horse's mouth.

"Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day's news without mentioning his split so he'll say a few words," a source disclosed to The Sun. "He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction."

Mirror Online has reached out to the couple's representatives for a statement.
