Eamonn Holmes will open up about his split with Ruth Langsford in his first TV appearance since the couple announced their split.

The pair released a statement over the weekend confirming their divorce, after 14 years of marriage. It has now been revealed that shortly before the news was shared, Eamonn left their £3.25 million Surrey mansion behind and is now living at a property nearby to give Ruth space.

The presenter is set to talk about his second divorce when he returns to TV screens on Monday. A source said the TV presenter believes people want to hear from him and he will not shy away from sharing his side, Mirror reports.

The source confirmed: "Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words. He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction," the source told The Sun.

It has since been claimed that the couple split over a year ago but were trying to make it work behind the scenes. Another source said that Eamonn had no intention of going public with the news yet, with Saturday's joint statement Ruth's idea as she was "determined" to walk away.

The Irish presenter reportedly told friends he "didn't want to get involved" and said: "Ruth can do what she wants but keep me out of it." The source told the Mail on Sunday: "Eamonn's preferred way was not to tell anyone.

"Deep down he knew it couldn't carry on but he was kind of sticking his head in the sand. He is very upset indeed."

Their break-up has been blamed on both leading separate "lives", with a source saying their work "pulled them in different directions". The duo had worked closely together on This Morning until they faced the sack in 2020.

Ruth stayed with ITV to co-present Loose Women, while Eamonn moved over the GB News and made a series of parting shots at his former employer following his departure.

The couple's fans had been speculating about the state of their marriage after they weren't pictured together in months. The last time they were seen out together was at The Television and Radio Industries Club awards in 2022, while social media posts mentioning each other had dried up.

Friends said that while the duo had drifted apart in the last year, Ruth visited her estranged partner during a recent hospital spell. Eamonn has battle chronic pain for two years, with Ruth saying it had been a "testing time" for their family, and even said in an interview with Woman's Weekly that she was "not sure" if Eamonn would ever recover.
