Eamonn Holmes says he's 'not OK' after Ruth Langsford split but hopes for one thing

Eamonn Holmes has expressed his hope to maintain a friendship with his estranged wife Ruth Langsford amidst their separation. The 64-year-old television presenter, who recently moved out of the home he shared with Ruth, also 64, following their marriage split announced in May, is currently dealing with a series of health issues.

At the TRIC Awards on Tuesday, June 25, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, where he was up for Best News Presenter and Best News Broadcast for his GB News role, he told Daily Mirror: "I'm not OK. This is not a good time at all."

When questioned about the future of his relationship with Ruth, Eamonn said: "It's too early to say but I hope we can still be friends." Suffering from severe chronic back pain, which meant that he was using a walking aid and a high-tech wheelchair at the awards ceremony,Eamonn also revealed his concerns about his health, feeling he is living on "borrowed time".

The broadcaster's father Leonard passed away at 65 from a heart attack, and Eamonn said he was aware of his family history. Despite the challenges, he decided to attend the event, saying: "I wasn't going to come but I've got this new chair with all these gadgets." Eamonn has been open about his struggle with back pain before, as reported by the Mirror, saying: "I get very resentful that I'm not the way I used to be but I get on with it. I work hard at trying to walk." He added: "It's very hard to get through a normal day but I have help."

He previously underwent a double hip replacement in 2015 along with a spinal surgery in 2022, later shared his experience with the audience at the TRIC awards. He said: "I had an operation a year-and-a-half ago, and two things went wrong so I have two things in my back I don't want. So I'll happily accept this."

Eamonn and Ruth announced their plans to divorce after 14 years together. The couple had previously presented on ITV's This Morning every Friday and during the school holidays between 2006 and 2021.
