Earth Trust volunteers have joined thousands from across the country in the recent Restore Nature Now march through the streets of London.

Staff, volunteers, trustees and members from the charity - based in Little Wittenham on the south bank of the River Thames - took part in a range of animal masks with homemade placards.

The group also called on supporters to vote for nature in the upcoming General Election - "for our health, our economy and our future".

More than 60,000 people including more than 350 charities and action groups marched through the capital to parliament - calling for political parties to restore the natural environment and tackle the climate crisis.

Dame Emma Thompson told politicians to “listen up” as she led thousands of people alongside businessman Dale Vince and naturalists Chris Packham and Steve Backshall.

Thousands marched from Hyde Park to the Houses of Parliament, urging politicians to act to protect the environment.

Speaking before the march, Dame Emma told the PA news agency that her message to politicians in Westminster was: “Well, they better listen up.

“I mean, I presume they feel the same concern as we do, but they’re not talking about it much. So that’s been very disappointing.

“It’s probably the most important issue of our day, and we’re losing our countryside at the rate of knots.”

As the march went down Whitehall, boos could be heard as the crowd passed Downing Street, with people shouting disapproval and gesturing.
