According to new research, Family Fortunes is the easiest UK game show for contestants to win.

Online banking company Payset analysed all of the top game shows in Britain and found a number of interesting bits of interesting information that would be of use to the legions of quizzers in the UK.

It found that appearing on Family Fortunes is the best chance a quizzer has of taking home some money.

The show, which has been on air for over 40 years and is currently presented by Gino D'Acampo, features only two teams guessing the answer to a survey of 100 random people with the winner taking home £30,000.

In its research, Payset found that shows which involved elimination rounds, carry-on rounds and a higher number of contestants were harder to win. As are shows which require a specialist level of knowledge.

Conversely, the company says chance based games are the easiest to win as they level the playing field between contestants and involve more luck.

The easiest quiz shows to win, according to research

  1. Family Fortunes

  2. Eggheads

  3. The Wall

  4. The Chase

  5. The Hit List

The second easiest game show to win is Channel 5's Eggheads which is hosted by Jeremy Vine. The show features a team of five quizzers go up against a team of professional game show champions over several specialist rounds before the final is fought over general knowledge.

Coming in at third place is the Danny Dyer fronted The Wall which only premiered in 2019. The show features only two contestants who go up against each other on trivia questions to build up their cash prize.

In fourth place is the much loved The Chase which has been going since 2009. A team of four contestants takes on a professional quizzer over a number of different rounds to win a share of their grand total. The largest amount won on the show is £100,000.

Rounding out the top five is The Hit List, a specialist music quiz show hosted by Marvin and Rochelle Humes. Under a time limit, contestants must recognise numerous hits from time gone by to win up to £10,000. Think Heardle but on the TV.
