Hero volunteers were dispatched to a stranded vessel off the East Lothian coast.

The RNLI was called to the scene on Wednesday afternoon, after a motor cruiser became stuck near Bass Rock. The boat's propeller had become snagged on a creel line.

Crews towed the vessel to safety, and it was berthed by 2.20pm. It was the first call for new station mechanic Pheobe Douglas, who was joined by five other RNLI workers.

RNLI Dunbar said: "Dunbar RNLI's all-weather lifeboat (ALB) launched this week to assist a disabled motor cruiser near Bass Rock.

"UK coastguard tasked our volunteers on Wednesday at 12.20pm after the 43ft vessel's propeller became snagged on a creel line. Launching from Torness Power Station, the Trent class 'John Neville Taylor' arrived on scene and, after assessing the situation, coxswain Gary Fairbairn decided the safest option was to tow the motor cruiser to Dunbar Harbour, where the vessel was safely berthed at around 2.20pm.

"The service call was also notable for being full-time station mechanic Phoebe Douglas's first 'shout'. Well done, Phoebe!
