EastEnders aired another huge setback for villain Max Branning tonight (December 15) as his brother Jack turned his back on him after learning the truth about Charlie Cotton.

Charlie made a surprise comeback to Albert Square, six months after he took his biological son Matthew away from Jack under instruction from Max.

It didn't take long for the truth to come to light in Friday's episode as Charlie wasted no time in telling Jack that Max paid him to take Matthew away -and everything else in-between.

Although a panic-stricken Max insisted that Charlie was making the whole thing up, he was eventually backed into a corner and forced to admit it was all true.

Max went on to explain to Jack that he wanted revenge for being left to rot in prison - but believed they can move on now they are both even.

But despite Max's heartfelt apology, Jack reached the end of his tether with his troubled brother and threw him out onto the street.

With Lauren and Abi also refusing to speak to him, Max realised he was well and truly alone now he'd lost Jack's support.

At his lowest ebb, Max's mood quickly turned dangerous as he turned his attention back to getting revenge on his two biggest enemies: Ian and Phil. But what does he have in store for them?

EastEnders continue on Monday, December 18 and 8pm on BBC One.
