Yahoo News EastEnders' Tanya FINALLY reappears as Abi dies
EastEnders' Tanya Branning finally reappeared in tonight's episode (January 19), which saw Abi pass away after her life support was switched off.
Jo Joyner reprised her role as the popular character in the show's Christmas Day and Boxing Day episodes, but there's been no sign of Tanya since – despite her daughter's devastating prognosis.
Earlier this week, an EastEnders scriptwriter hinted that we might not have seen the last of Tanya, and sure enough, she made another appearance in Friday's heart-wrenching scenes.
Abi has been declared brain stem dead after her horrifying Christmas Day fall, with spoiler-reading fans aware that her life-support machine would be switched off tonight.
As Abi's family prepared themselves for the harrowing task ahead, a question mark remained over Tanya's absence – especially given that even her sister Rainie was there.
However, Tanya did eventually appear in Abi's last episode as she came face-to-face with her ex-husband Max in the chapel.
After sharing a difficult exchange with Max, a devastated Tanya made her feelings clear – insisting that he was responsible for Abi's death and he wasn't to be present when her machine was switched off.
Thankfully, Tanya had a change of heart during Abi's final moments, ultimately allowing Max to be there when Abi passed away.
Lorna Fitzgerald's exit from the show was announced last year, while Jacqueline Jossa – who plays her sister Lauren – is also bowing out next month.
EastEnders continues on Monday, January 22 at 8pm on BBC One.
