The greats of the TV drama world will descend on the Lowry Theatre in Salford for the British Soap Awards in June – but if rumours were to be believed, a certain Danny Dyer was going to give the night a miss.

The Daily Star was apparently informed that Danny wouldn't be in attendance – despite being nominated for a Best Actor award – because "after everything that's happened over the last few months he's keeping his head down".

"Danny has not ruled out any social events and certainly no decision has been made about the British Soap Awards in June."

Whoever is in attendance on the night, it's going to be one to watch – after it was revealed that this year's show will be the first time that it's broadcast live.

In charge of the potentially hiccup-ridden (though let's hope not, of course!) evening will be Philip Schofield, heading up the show as it beams to our screens on June 3.

Votes can be cast now via the official British Soap Awards website. Details of the other categories, which are judged by the panel, will be revealed at a later date.
