The greats of the soap world will descend on the Lowry Theatre in Salford for the British Soap Awards in June – but rumours have been swirling that EastEnders actor Danny Dyer was going to give the night a miss.

The Daily Star was apparently informed that Danny wouldn't be in attendance – despite being nominated for a Best Actor award.

Danny is currently taking a break from the show, and an EastEnders spokesperson has now denied claims that he won't be attending the ceremony (via The Sun).

"Danny has not ruled out any social events and certainly no decision has been made about the British Soap Awards in June."

Whoever is in attendance on the night, it's going to be one to watch as it was revealed that this year's show will be the first time that it's broadcast live.

In charge of the potentially hiccup-ridden evening (though let's hope not, of course!) will be Philip Schofield, heading up the show as it beams to our screens on June 3.

Votes can be cast now via the official British Soap Awards website. Details of the other categories, which are judged by the panel, will be revealed at a later date.
