EastEnders aired worrying scenes during Wednesday's episode (April 10) as Gloria Knight collapsed leaving George panicked. George called for help as his mum suffered a heart attack as the stress of Eddie's murder trial proved too much for her.

Former professional boxer George, who is played by actor Colin Salmon in the BBC soap, had turned his back on adopted mum Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) after learning how she and husband Eddie kept the truth about his biological parents from him. Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) is now standing trial over the historic racist murder of George's biological father, Henry Kofi Asare.

Earlier this week, George was surprised to receive information from the Crown Prosecution Service that Gloria has provided information about her husband Eddie. She later visited her son George and urged him to testify in the trial and seek justice for Henry.

But George’s hopes that Gloria decided to do the right thing were soon dashed when he overheard a secretive call between his parents, and it becomes clear that Gloria is unable to turn her back on Eddie. George is left furious and lashes out at Gloria, telling her that he no longer wants anything to do with her.

His ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) tries to smooth things over between the mum and son, having had a private chat with Gloria. She insists that George should reach out to Gloria, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, manipulative Eddie arranged to meet George at the Boxing Den and made a last-ditch attempt to stop George from testifying against him. George loses his temper and reveals that Gloria was the one who convinced him to testify.

The news prompts Eddie to issue a chilling threat with the argument derailing George’s plans to take the stand in court. But during Wednesday's trip to the Square, George is shocked when Cindy and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) put their differences aside and team up to support him.

Following Cindy and Elaine's insistence, George decides to attend the trial after all. But the proceedings take a dramatic turn when Eddie’s defence cross-examines George, and Gloria shouts out in the middle of court, much to Eddie’s disgust.

However, it all becomes too much for Gloria who is overcome with stress and emotion. As the court breaks, she tries to make a hasty exit from the courtroom and suffers a heart attack.

George shouted for Anna to an ambulance as her frantically shouted for someone to help him. But will Gloria survive the heart attack? EastEnders fans will have to tune in tomorrow as the story continues.
