EastEnders' Ian Beale to face a setback after shocking phone call

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders' Ian Beale will face a setback next week after receiving a shocking phone call which threatens his plans to open a restaurant.

In recent weeks Cindy Beale has been trying to get investors to back her plans for a pie and mash shop in an attempt to lay down some more permanent roots in Walford and to connect with her daughters.

After launching some failed bids to get investment from the Panesars and Phil, Cindy took a break from trying to find some money and had a heart-to-heart with Gina.

During the conversation, Gina revealed to Cindy that George had plans to sell the bar in Marbella and Cindy spotted an opportunity to get some money.

Following this, Cindy told Ian she owns half of the bar in Marbella that George is selling and the pair seemingly made a breakthrough with Elaine and George over the bar sale.

In scenes set to air next week on BBC One, Sharon hatches a plan to invite Ian over to the café for a glass of wine and food, as she acts as a mediator.

During the meeting, Ian and Kathy resolve their issues and declare their love for each other before drunkenly heading back to No.45 where Cindy and Kathy exchange some tense words.

Later, in the café, Cindy, Peter and a hungover Ian discuss their potential investment opportunity but the conversation is cut short when Ian receives a shocking phone call – there is a competitor for the lease on the pawnbrokers which could put an end to their plans.

Ian heads to The Vic where he attempts to use his heart attack to gain sympathy but Elaine rumbles Ian's agenda and George reveals that he and Cindy are not entitled to any money from the Marbella bar sale.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
