EastEnders' Lola has setback with mum on her wedding day

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Lola Pearce has threatened to call off her wedding as a tragic setback with her mum Emma played out in EastEnders.

Tuesday's episode saw the bride preparing to walk down the aisle with husband-to-be Jay Brown, though she'd have to make an unexpected visit to the hospital first.

Denise and Kim were in the middle of getting Lola ready for the ceremony when the bride questioned why Jay would want to marry someone who's dying.

After Kim talked Lola around about how much Jay loved her, she was alarmed to see blood dripping down from Lola's nose.

The two then headed to the hospital rather than the registry office to get Lola checked out.

At the registry office, Jay was alarmed when Phil and the couple's loved ones pointed out that Lola hadn't turned up yet. Over at the hospital, Lola was told there was no sign of rapid advancement of her cancer.

Kim assured Lola that everything would be fine, but Lola pointed out that's not the truth because she has terminal brain cancer.

"Today just makes it all feel real," Lola explained. "I've been hoping for some sort of miracle cure, or I get better.

"But I'm not going to. This isn't the end, Kim. This is the beginning of the end."

When Kim encouraged her that they needed to get to the registry office, Lola broke down and told her: "Kim, I can't. I can't marry Jay."

All the while, with some help from Phil, Billy had managed to find Lola's long-lost mum Emma Harding. Billy approached Emma to explain himself and ask for her to come along with him to Lola's wedding.
