The feud between Max Branning and the Beales in EastEnders will intensify next week when Max is accused of a heinous attack.

Bad blood between the two families will be reignited now that young Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) has returned to the Square, having served his time for killing sister Lucy.

Max (Jake Wood) hasn't forgotten that Bobby and the other Beales initially let him take the fall for Lucy's murder - leading to a heated chase through Walford when Max and Bobby come face-to-face later this week.

Things will only get worse next week when Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) returns to the Square, after being chastised by Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) for staying away when his son arrived back from the detention centre.

There's a tense atmosphere between father and son when they're reunited, so Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) suggests the family go to the Vic for drinks to catch-up.

The locals give Bobby a less-than-warm welcome, making the boy feel even more unwelcome. Despite some comforting words from Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and another unlikely source, Bobby eventually storms out and demands to be left alone.

When Ian and Kathy finally catch up with Bobby, they are horrified to see bruises on his face. Jumping to the conclusion that Max is responsible, Ian calls the police to implicate his nemesis.

Max denies any blame, and Bobby himself refuses to take part in the police investigation. Eventually, Bobby stuns Ian by revealing where the bruises really came from.

A gobsmacked Ian is thrown from a further loop after trying to reach former business partner Masood Ahmed, when he finds out that Masood sold his interest to none other than… Max Branning!

Ian angrily rants to Kathy about why she hadn't told him about the business deal, until his mum puts him in check by reminding him he was the one who abandoned all of his responsibilities in Walford!

This gives Ian food for thought, so he proposes the idea of home tutoring to Bobby to help him settle back in - an option that his son flatly rejects! However, a phone call from a friend convinces the teen to reconsider and make peace with his dad.

Just when it looks like the two have reconciled and Ian vows to keep his son by his side, Bobby slips out of the house without his father knowing. Where is Bobby going?

EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
