Tonight's (August 20) EastEnders showed us why you should never cross a Mitchell, as Phil confronted son Ben over the truth about his attack.

In last night's episode, we saw Phil learn from Kat Moon that Ben has been pointing the finger in the wrong direction when it comes to his attack.

Viewers know that Ben blamed Keanu Taylor for the attack, prompting him to flee the Square with Phil's daughter Louise, before he also tried to turn off his dad's life support machines and Jay Brown later covered for him when Phil demanded answers.

Determined to learn the full truth, Phil cornered Ben at home and said that if he didn't start spilling the beans, Phil would start drinking from the bottles of booze he's got in a bid to force the truth from Ben.

In an emotional confrontation, Ben told Phil that he saw Kat attack him, admitted that he framed Keanu because he was jealous over the will and added that hates Phil for every time he has failed as a father through his life.

Phil replied that he doesn't care about Ben's sexuality or his past, but said that his insecurity has put Louise in danger again.

Phil also then admitted that he had put together the truth anyway and had played his son – the vodka he threatened to drink was actually water and he just wanted to hear the confession.

Oh, and he never wants to see Ben again.

But you know when we said you should never mess with a Mitchell?

Well, Kat found herself on the receiving end of Ben's anger, and at the end of the episode he was sure to remind Kat that he still has the wrench that was used in the attack on Phil, threatening to hand it over to the police and reveal Stacey as the real culprit in response to Kat's betrayal.

Ben is also going to face more drama next week, as Stuart Highway goes to drastic measures to keep him away from Callum.

EastEnders continues Thursday (August 22) at 7:30pm on BBC One.
