'EastEnders': How will Brian Conley's Rocky get caught out?

EastEnders’ Rocky (Brian Conley) has been charming everyone around him since his arrival back in the spring. Claiming to be Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) long-lost father Terry Cant, he has also been romancing Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

But Rocky is actually Dotty’s (Milly Zero) uncle, Tom Cotton. The pair have been scheming to get their hands on Dotty’s inheritance, which has been left in Sonia’s care.

This Christmas, Rocky’s big secret looks set to come out as the guilt weighs heavily on him. But just how will his secret come to light? Read on as we consider the options.

Rocky’s letters reveal the truth

Last month, Rocky was planning to leave Walford. He wrote letters of remorse to both Sonia and Kathy, then suffered a heart attack. When Dotty tried to get rid of the incriminating notes, she found they were missing.

Soon an unsuspecting Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) will find the envelope bearing Sonia’s name and pass it on to her. Could this be the moment she discovers Rocky’s deception? Surely that would be too simple a reveal.

Rocky confesses

He may be related to original villain Nick Cotton (John Altman), but Rocky isn’t cut out for the con-man lifestyle. It’s certainly possible that he could crack under the pressure and admit everything.

The question is, will Rocky get his chance to put things right by owning up, or will someone else beat him to it?

Betrayed by Dotty

There’s a furious run-in between Rocky and Dotty later this month, as he snaps over her mum Sandy’s (Martha Cope) behaviour. So could Dotty turn against her uncle?

She could see red and give away his betrayal, cutting him out of the deal while keeping quiet about her own involvement. After all, nobody knows Rocky well enough to trust his word over Dotty’s.

Sonia’s real father arrives?

It was in the summer of 2020 that Sonia first decided to make contact with her absent father, only for Rocky to arrive the following year after receiving her letter.

How did he get his hands on it? Was Rocky associated with Sonia’s dad - and if so could the real Terry Cant work out what he’s done, before rocking up to reclaim his identity?

Sonia finds cause to do a DNA test

The fact that Sonia never ordered a test to confirm Rocky’s story has been a talking point since his arrival. So could that be his undoing?

Rocky managed to head off the confusion over his medical records during his recent hospital stay. But if this is followed up, could nurse Sonia hear that he has a conflicting blood group, therefore making it impossible for him to be her father?

Suspicious resident uncovers the truth

Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) will witness Rocky paying off a dealer to help Dotty and her mum. With Rocky currently dating Peter’s gran Kathy, the wannabe-entrepreneur will be wanting to keep an eye on him.

Could Peter uncover Rocky’s misdeeds and drop a Christmas bombshell - or will someone else accidentally discover what’s been going on?

Carol Jackson cameo?

It’s a popular theory among fans, and we can’t deny it would be the most exciting reveal of all. Could actor Lindsey Coulson reprise her role as Sonia’s mum Carol Jackson, delivering an epic Christmas moment in the process?

We already know that dinner will be interrupted on the big day by an unexpected guest. Imagine Carol walking in and Sonia ‘re-introducing’ her to Rocky - only for her mother to reply “I don’t know who this man is, but he ain’t your father!”
