EastEnders shares first look at Johnny Carter's return to Walford
EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders has shared the first look at Charlie Suff taking over the role of Johnny Carter.
Suff will soon be debuting in the role previously played by Sam Strike and Ted Reilly as Mick and Linda Carter's son.
In two new photos of his arrival, Johnny turns up in Walford to find that Linda has relapsed into her alcoholism and is haunted by the return of Dean Wicks.
While Johnny assumes all of Linda's troubles are about facing Dean, he has no idea that she's also trying to cover up the death of Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day.
Linda has struggled to conceal that she fatally stabbed Keanu to keep him from harming Sharon Watts, and has fallen back into drinking as a way to cope with her guilt.
On top of all of that, Linda has also had a major development in her love life as she shared a kiss with long-time friend Alfie Moon this week.
It was announced in December that Grantchester and Grace star Charlie Suff would be taking over the role of Johnny Carter six years after his predecessor Ted Reilly quit the show.
"I'm so delighted to be joining such an iconic programme – EastEnders was always on at my house when I was growing up," Suff said in a statement.
"Johnny is a complex character who has been through so much, which I can't wait to explore," he continued.
"I've found EastEnders to be the most kind and loving space to work in, and I already feel like one of the family."
Much has been made in recent episodes about Linda feeling abandoned, as she has seemingly lost husband Mick and her children had all moved away.
Johnny's return will surely fill a void for Linda, but how will he react if he finds out that Linda has feelings for Alfie?
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
