EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth confirms new role amid return rumours

Former EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth has announced her next role, amid much speculation surrounding the potential return of Little Mo.

While Little Mo has been frequently mentioned in recent months on the BBC soap, with everything that's happening to her son Freddie, it doesn't look like Ainsworth will be reprising the role any time soon.

Instead, the actress will be starring in Manchester's theatre run of Little Women in December.

"If you want to find me, here I'll be!" she wrote on Instagram yesterday (October 5), announcing the news and posting the play's poster.

"A beautiful adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN @homemcr directed by Brigid Larmour. Perfect for pre Christmas gloriousness. Fri 8 Dec – Sat 23 Dec. Book now."

Ainsworth will be playing Marmee March, who was recently portrayed by Oscar-winning star Laura Dern in director Greta Gerwig's big-screen adaptation.

Julia Brown, Jessica Brydges, Meg Chaplin, Daniel Francis-Swaby, Rachael McAllister, Tom Richardson, and Susan Twist make up the rest of the show's cast.

Ainsworth addressed a potential EastEnders return just over a year ago, telling The Daily Star: "I've done so much since I've left. I'm a regular in an ITV series [Grantchester], we're onto our seventh series of that.

"I've done so many things. Mrs Lovitt [in Sweeney Todd at the Everyman Theatre], I've just finished a play called Lava in London. I do so much stuff, I'm not sure there's room at the moment."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
