EastEnders: Sylvie's racist routine could spell trouble

From Digital Spy

EastEnders aired another huge setback for the Carter family last night (January 31) as Sylvie delivered a controversial performance in the Queen Vic.

The latest theme night at pub started off well enough until Sylvie took to the stage under Tina's influence and managed to offend pretty much everyone there with her song choice.

The crowd watched uncomfortably as Sylvie, dressed in a pink gown with an oriental design, began singing an offensive song, which played up racial stereotypes.

Attempts were quickly to get her off stage as soon as possible, but further disaster struck when she fell in the process.

Mick had previously made it clear to Tina that he didn't want Sylvie – who is living with dementia – taking to the stage at all, but she defied his wishes in a bid to make her mother happy.

As all his regular punters abandoned the quiz night in horror, Mick was left trying to explain himself – but could the latest turn of events affect business at The Vic at the worst possible time ?

Mick's debt problems have been mounting up ever since he bailed his son Lee out of his own money problems over Christmas, and later had to financially support his wife Linda and her seriously ill mum Elaine.

And it looks like things are set to continue to get worse for him as he retired upstairs only to discover that there was a leak in the roof.

EastEnders continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm on BBC One.
