EastEnders' Tameka Empson: I get flirty messages all the time

‘EastEnders’ star Tameka Empson is bombarded with “flirty messages” all the time.

The 45-year-old actress, who plays Kim Fox on the primetime BBC soap, is somewhat of a sex symbol as her inbox is overflowing with saucy messages.

She is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column as saying: “I get flirty messages all the time. The messages pile up. I read them and I’m thinking, ‘But I don’t even know your name, let alone your number or whether we’re going out to eat!’

“A few men have given me the eye in real life. But generally men are quite shy with me. I am confident … they need to get with the programme.”

Tameka joined the cast of ‘EastEnders’ back in 2009. Her character Kim has been such a hit among the audience it landed Empson her very own YouTube spin-off series titled ‘The Kimfluencer’, which has been hugely popular with viewers.

She added: “When fans see me in the street, they shout, ‘Kim, I love you, I want to go parting with you’. They’re lovely.

“They’re always high energy. Sometimes I’m tired and just want to go home and have a bath.

“But it’s still really nice to hear that from people.

“You do what you do and you don’t know how people perceive it. So when they come out and say things to you, it’s nice.”

Most recently, unearthed throwbacks of the star sent fans into a frenzy after one loyal supporter shared a snap of Tameka alongside her co-star Linda Henry, who plays Shirley Carter.

Both Tameka and Linda - who starred in 1996’s LGBTQ+ coming-of-age movie ‘Beautiful Thing’ together, before their stint on ‘EastEnders’ - looked unrecognisable.
