An easyJet captain and his co-pilot have been deemed “irresponsible” after filming themselves playing a Snapchat game while flying a plane full of passengers.

Captain Michel Castellucci posted the video on his social media account pilot_flyingnut which he filmed during a flight from London to Madrid on Wednesday.

In the clip his co-pilot is shown dancing with a cartoon owl created by the app.

Mr Castellucci captioned the video: “Dancing first officer in cruise doing paperwork.”

In a further photo posted by Mr Castellucci, he is seen posing with bear features superimposed on his face.

Neither of the pilots appeared to be looking at the plane controls in the cockpit during their antics.

Angry passengers described the men’s behaviour as unprofessional.

One outraged passenger told The Sun: “EasyJet pilot dancing during the flight. Irresponsible.”

Another worried viewer said: “The cockpit duo were not focused on the controls, just on having a good time. It only takes seconds for something catastrophic to go wrong, even in cruise control.

“It’s dangerous, unprofessional, and sends out the wrong image. High jinks in the cockpit at 30,000ft is never a good look.”

The video was viewed over 6,000 times while it was on Mr Castellucci's social media account.

An easyJet spokesman said: “"Whilst at no point was the safety of the passengers compromised, this falls well short of the high standards easyJet expects of its pilots. It is not acceptable and is not representative of the thousands of highly professional pilots who work for the airline.

"We take this issue seriously and as such the pilots have been suspended (in line with our procedures) pending a disciplinary investigation.”
