Ed Balls offers to rub Laura Whitmore's ankle 'anytime'

Laura Whitmore has revealed Ed Balls has offered to massage her injured ankle.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 31, was struck down with the injury last month and her fellow contestant has told her he is only too happy to lend a hand on her road to recovery.

Speaking at the Unsigned Music Awards, Laura told the Daily Mail: “Ed Balls sent me a message saying, ‘I’m available to rub your ankle anytime you want, Laura.’

"I was like, 'Ed Balls just sent me that message.’

"I love my WhatsApp group because it’s the most eclectic group of people. We all click. I don’t know if it was like this other years. You can’t fake that.

The 49-year-old former Chancellor - who is married to politician Yvette Cooper - recently admitted he is yet to be invited on a night out with the "younger” celebrity contestants.

He said: “The contestants my age go home and go to bed and the younger celebs go out into central London or Soho. And go until about 2am.

"Really sadly, they’ve not invited me. I don’t know what it is but there’s this awkward moment about midnight and people sort of slip out, and I’m just stood there.

"And no one wants to say goodbye because they all want to leave without people realising. It’s really tragic. They keep promising it but so far they’ve not sealed the deal.”

Laura’s injury forced her to miss a Strictly live show a few weeks ago when she was unable to stand unaided.

A source said at the time: “She’s seen two physios and two medics over the past 24 hours and at 4.15pm today show bosses took the decision she could not perform.

"It is really inflamed. She’s had to keep it elevated and she’s being given pain killers.

"She is absolutely gutted. She’s been in floods of tears because she was so excited to be performing.”
