The superstar’s account on the micro-blogging site suddenly disappeared shortly after he appeared as a singing soldier in the HBO fantasy series and it’s thought his exit from Twitter was prompted by the mixed response from critics.

Viewers had a field day on Twitter after seeing Ed play the Lannister soldier in his very unsubtle cameo.

Ed, 26, previously said that he had ‘come off Twitter’ before because he couldn’t understand why people were so ‘mean’ and ‘hated’ him.

Err, they’re probably jealous of you, Ed!

‘I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that.

‘One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it. The head-f**k for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much,’ he explained.

Ed was once misunderstood to be slamming Lady Gaga in an interview and said her fans laid into him on Twitter.

‘Lady Gaga’s fanbase read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f***ing hate. And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all.

‘So I think Twitter gets on a massive steam roll of assuming things and then you get in the s**t.’

The Thinking Out Loud singer doesn’t have the same love-hate relationship with Instagram, and recently posted a snap of himself and his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn in Peru on the photo-sharing site.
