Ed Sheeran had the “Perfect” day with his favorite soccer team.

According to posts on Instagram, the singer-songwriter spent the day with his hometown team Ipswich Town Football Club on Tuesday, watching them take on Hull City Association Football Club. They took the opportunity to celebrate together, as the team won 3-0 and the singer is coming off the recent release of his seventh studio album Autumn Variations.

Sheeran visited the football stars in the locker room where the star athletes showed off not just their soccer skills to the star musician, but their singing chops, too. Per footage on Instagram, the team serenaded the Grammy winner with his 2017 hit song “Perfect.”

The team put their arms around each other while they broke into the ballad, while the hitmaker looked delighted at their performance. He briefly chimed in, but mostly took in the moment while smiling and taking selfies.

The “Shape of You” singer, who was wearing merchandise promoting his new album, also spent time with fellow soccer fans. He got behind the counter of the concession stand to pass out refreshments and snacks to other attendees, and looked like he had a blast while doing it.

In a clip the English artist shared on Instagram, he shared a laugh with an elderly fan who said, “I’ve come to see you, mate,” when Sheeran asked what he was doing at the counter.

“uppa towen, top of the league buh,” the “Eyes Closed” artist captioned the post featuring highlights of his day and soundtracked by his new song “Amazing.”

On Ipswich Town Football Club’s carousel of photos from the day, in the caption they wrote, “Our no.17! 🍺🎸🧸 #itfc,” in reference to Sheeran.

Last week, the recording artist released Autumn Variations, his new album inspired by the fall season and out on his own Gingerbread Man Records.

When the record dropped, he opened up on Instagram about the significance of the release. “So Autumn Variations is out now ! This is an album purely for you, the fans,” Sheeran said in the caption of a video of himself in a cozy sweater singing the new track “American Town.”

He continued, “There’s no singles, no videos, it’s on my own label, so no pressure for anything. I just want you guys to have a soundtrack for autumn/fall that feels like a warm hug. I hope you love it.”

The star also got fans in on the excitement by hosting several pop-up concerts in schools and throwing a pub crawl throughout New York City.

Autumn Variations comes shortly after the folk-pop artist released his album - (pronounced Subtract) in May.
