Ed Sheeran’s Only Gone And Landed Himself A Proper Acting Role

Fresh from a cameo on Home and Away and an appearance on NBC’s ‘Undateable’ (which he’s clearly not, in our eyes), Ed Sheeran’s gone and landed himself an actual, real-life acting role.

Yep, our fave flame-haired, guitar-wielding god has got himself a recurring role in upcoming FX drama series ‘The Bastard Executioner’, and we’re more excited than the time we found an extra Oreo in a pack of four.

Congratulations, Eddy!

Making the leap from cameos to an ACTUAL, proper, super duper role, the 24-year-old will be playing Sir Cormac in the gory medieval drama, which has been created by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, his character will be “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.”

The show itself is being billed as a “blood-soaked medieval epic that tells the story of a 14th century warrior whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner.”

Okay, we’ll be honest here. Our knowledge of medieval things probably extends as far as seeing men in chain metal riding horses towards each other while holding pointy sticks at a recreation we went to on a school trip once.

However, we are VERY MUCH on-board for watching Eddy in a full suit of armor getting his sword out all over the show. Ahem.

The show will also star Stephen Moyer and Katey Sagal, and we reckon it’s going to be all killer, no filler.

The singer, who recorded a cover of Foy Vance’s ‘Make It Rain’ for the season finale of Sons of Anarchy, actually teased the role earlier this year.

He told The Sun: “It’s a medieval TV show and it’s really, really dark.

“It’s gruesome and it’s going to be fine because my friend wrote it. I feel like people would expect me to be in a romcom or something, so I wanted to be in something people don’t expect me to.”

Expect the unexpected? Sounds good to us.

Congratulations once again, Ed! We can’t wait to see your wonderful face in HD on our TV screens later this year.
