Edinburgh drivers come to a standstill on major road as breakdown triggers queues

Edinburgh drivers have come to a standstill after a breakdown has triggered traffic to tailback on a major road.

A breakdown on the Edinburgh City Bypass has sparked massive queues near Straiton at around 4.30pm on Sunday June 23.

The A720 at the Straiton junction is seeing cars come to a standstill as the A720 westbound between Straiton and Lothianburn is currently restricted.

Drivers are being urged to approach with caution.

Traffic Scotland said: "The A720 westbound between Straiton and Lothianburn is currently restricted, due to a broken down vehicle. Road users are advised to use caution on approach."
