Edinburgh motorcyclist rushed to hospital after crash with pedestrian and car

An Edinburgh man has been taken to hospital after a collision in the north of the city.

The motorcyclist was involved in an incident with a pedestrian and a car, at around 7.40am on Thursday. Emergency services were called to Ferry Road, as Gosford Place.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The pedestrian and driver did not require hospital treatment, with officers confirming enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.40am on Thursday, 2 May 2024, police were called to a road crash involving a car, motorcycle and pedestrian on Ferry Road at Gosford Place, Edinburgh.

"The male motorcycle rider was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The driver of the car and pedestrian did not require hospital treatment.

"Enquiries into the incident are continuing."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 07.38am today to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Ferry Road, Edinburgh.

"We dispatched one ambulance and a critical care paramedic to the scene. One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”

"Due to an RTC the road is partially blocked here. It was closed briefly but police are now directing traffic both ways.

Posting to X/Twitter, local resident @coloneljack71 said: "RTC Ferry road at Victoria Park Neuk. Police and ambulance just arrived.

"Definitely avoid the area."
