Edinburgh to see week long deluge and thunderstorms following warm weather spell

In a rare treat after months of rain and wind, Edinburgh residents have been able to crack out the garden furniture and fire up the barbecues due to a hot spell.

Forecasters predict that those in the city will be able to enjoy highs of 21C on Friday May 10, making it ideal for planning a trip to the beer garden.

But basking in the warm spring glow is set to be short-lived, as although temperatures will remain in the 20's on Saturday 11 when the rain returns, the weather worsen as we move into Sunday 12.

It will be a short lived reprieve as at 10am on Wednesday 15, forecasters predict that light showers will return and from 10am and will last until 8pm in the evening.
